"She Rises on the Strength of the Moon"
by Claire Favro

With my hill-top view of the sky in all its moods and seasons, I am easily awed. Nonetheless, I think it is the moon rising in front of my door that draws me the most deeply into places ripe with hope and promise. Here the crane – often associated with good fortune – flies out of the valley of passion turned to pain, and rises up in response to the healing energy of the moon.

About The Author

CLAIRE FAVRO - takes simple cotton fabrics and cuts them up. From them she creates powerful emotional landscapes, reflections of joy and peace, shining suns and shimmering moons. These are made sometimes from just a few, sometimes from hundreds of pieces of fabric. Her work has been published in Quilters’ Newsletter and Art/Quilt Magazine, and received awards at numerous quilt shows. Commissioned works created in close collaboration with clients are in private collections around the country. Though not an athletic naturalist, Claire spends lots of time gazing at the sky views from her hill-top home near Seattle – whenever she looks up from her sewing.
