"...a webzine to feed the soul" This webzine is literally the result of our webmaster following a dream and deciding to apply technical skills to a web site that feeds the soul rather than the pocketbook. This project provided a creative outlet for a webmaster possessing high-tech skills as well as feeling passionate about low-tech activities such as backpacking, kayaking, and camping; the geeky webmaster with a love for the outdoors, and ironically possessing an anti-technology bent, found a web site to truly sink heart and soul into. The efforts to publish the first issue of this webzine have already proven serendipitous and we believe the publication of each issue will continue to be a delight and inspiration as we review stories, meet authors, and allow the site to evolve spiritually. A web site truly moved by the Spirit and Universe as opposed to by the bottom line? What a refreshing idea! Although the original dream of SpirituallyFit.com was to solely focus on spiritual experiences occurring in nature, the Spirit has already led us to be open to additional practices of spiritual fitness, such as the physical healing effects of music. We expect to receive a variety of spiritual stories which will continue to broaden our knowledge about how humanity exercises spiritually and we hope you enjoy the diverse spiritual fitness stories we bring you in each issue. We are open to ALL stories submitted to us and do not discriminate based on religion, race or creed. However, for this webzine, we are defining "spiritual experiences" as activities not associated with traditional religious practices or rituals. Because we do want to be open to ALL stories, we encourage all writers to submit any story they feel could fit the focus of this webzine, and our editors will then decide which stories are appropriate for publication. Because we found that many religious sites already do exist, we wanted to focus on stories that are spiritual in nature, as opposed to those that are traditionally religious or associated with any particular religion. In no way is SpirituallyFit.com making any critical or judgmental statements about religion versus spirituality. We just want to clearly communicate that this webzine is NOT associated with any specific religion, denomination or sect. In fact, the spiritual openness of our site is intended to appeal to readers of ANY belief. The intent of our webzine is to provide a home for spiritual stories which may not necessarily fit any other web sites. We feel we are serving a niche market: a spiritual population interested in stories about inspirational experiences occurring outside the confines of organized religion and traditional rituals. This first issue contains stories from several published authors but, we are not excluding stories written by non-professional writers. We are actually VERY interested in providing a medium to publish stories by lesser known authors. We invite writers from ALL walks of life to submit their stories for publication by simply using our submission form or by emailing us. We are also very interested in your comments about the site and suggestions for topics and improvement. We are excited about bringing you these stories and want to make this an interesting, inspirational web site which keeps you looking forward to more stories with each issue! Do these stories touch your heart and soul? Are you looking forward to the next issue? What are you interested in? Do you know of other sites like ours? How do you define spiritual fitness? Email us with your comments or send us suggestions. Tell us about authors or their stories that you'd like published in future issues of the site! Submit your own stories! Let us know you stopped by and tell us what does and doesn't work for you! Thank you for visiting our site!
